Rising Gas Costs

September 10, 2008 on 11:52 pm | In Work |

Our biggest expense is payroll and second to that is the cost of gasoline and other automotive expenses.

The cost of gas has gone up this past year by over $1 a gallon. That’s a huge price jump and we have no offset from the newspaper to help cover that. I had to run a spreadsheet to find out breaking point, as our profit margin was already slim. According to my calculations, if gasoline hits $5.00 a gallon we will have to shut our doors. It is already $4.09 locally. So at least we know what we have to do if it keep going up. At the current rate of increase we could easily hit $5 a gallon by late February.  I hope that doesn’t happen.
